I never set out to be the hero, or whatever anybody wants to call me. I didn't want to be the champion of the universe, the one to whom thousands of civilizations owe their very existences.
That's not who I am; anyway, it's not who I want to be. I never signed on for that sort of thing. I'm just a traveler, passing through. Trying to learn, to experience, to see the cosmos for the wonder that it ultimately is.
But a hero? No. That is not the way that I choose to define myself. I'm just a Time Lord with a TARDIS, doing the best I can.
I never intended to save anybody. But I suppose that, if it's necessary that somebody be saved, and no one else is making an effort to do so, then maybe the person to do it should be me.
