He should have expected that this would happen one day; but it still comes as a bit of a surprise, to be stabbed in the back by the help.
Who would have thought that Hog-breath had such nerve in him? The pipsqueak was always such a cowering clod, desperate not to draw undue attention to himself. That he'd come down with a case of puppy love for some girl, and be willing to throw his cowardice aside in order to help her, was the last thing that Jareth anticipated.
He'll be punished, certainly, when this is all over with.
