Regarding The Daily Prompts

So...

The other admin and I had a talk about the Daily Prompts and we concluded that maybe thats too much traffic for the community presently so as of this week we will experiment with posting a new prompt once a week in addition to the Freaky Friday weekend challenge.

We would love to hear your feedback regarding this.

I certainly think you don't need daily prompts right now, but glancing through the comm you've got a small but steady flow of fills for them going.

So, personally, I'd say maybe two a week rather than one (plus freaky Friday), considering that flow; I'd just be cautious about cutting too harshly because that could end up slowing things down too much, if you get me?

See the initial argument was that we might have been putting too many prompts out too fast since sometimes people like to take the word, internalize it for a day or two before posting.

Back in the Wild West days of LJ daily prompts were common place because the turnaround was fast, But now we are trying to get a feel for the new crowd so we can accommodate need.

I think two to three a week would probably be easier to work with, alongside the tables. Personally, I got sick almost a week ago, so I've barely been able to concentrate on anything, so it's held me up from getting started on my table or more of the prompts.

But it does sometimes take time to internalize a prompt and come up with something to fit it. Some prompts are easier than others. For instance, I have an idea for "Crave", but nothing for "Handle With Care". So one prompt per day might be a bit too much pressure for some.

Agreed. We will dial it back and if the group starts becoming more active we can add more days if need be!

Hmm. One 'standard' prompt per week, perhaps, plus Freaky Friday? That way, you won't hit the tag limit too quickly. :-)

I'm fine with any option, but the daily prompts were going up at really odd times for me and I wasn't sure what day they were actually for. How about a weekly post with either a couple prompts or prompts for each day of the week? Like, put it up on Fri for the next Sun-Sat.

I’m actually really glad you mentioned that because I was going to touch on that myself.

Since I’m a teacher I work during the prime posting times and that lead to me having to post the prompts whenever I could as opposed to at the same time every day.

I tried to set them to post on a timer but DW’s timed post option is a little shaky and was posting them right away as opposed to when i scheduled them to do so.

So as a result I will start posting them around midnight central time. Thats a time when I can consistently post without much deviation. But because of the date issue I will include the date in the prompt post as well.

I work nights, so I'm basically on 'idek what day it is' time, so I completely understand. Thank you~

Agreeing you don't want to overwhelm people. I check my DW sometimes every ten days, sometimes 3 times a week. I'd never keep up with too many prompts!
