sesquidrabbles for Challenge #6: Soul-Searching
It takes a lot of soul-searching for Daisato to get to the bottom of why he keeps doing this. His transformations into giant form are always painful. And the aftermath is hellish, all on its own. The mockery, the scorn. The way that his duties have taken their toll on his personal life, such as it is.
He doesn't want to keep it up. It isn't that he resents how unappreciative the people of Japan have become with regard to his profession. He'd like to receive more respect, but that's not why he does what he does. He'd give it all up, if only he could. Try to be a normal man, living a normal life.
But Selina...
The thought of his daughter helps. They might not have much of a relationship. But he can keep her safe, and other children like her.
If he can do that, then it's worth everything else.
