This house isn't haunted. No, it isn't. Oh, perhaps it does possess a certain...reputation. But reputations are often based on unfounded rumors, and nothing more. And unfounded rumors are a simple thing to dismiss.

That tapping that you hear, that startles you away from your reading? It wasn't a ghost trying to get your attention; just a branch hitting the window in a sharp wind.

Never mind that it's a calm night, with not even a faint breeze.

The breath on the back of your neck, that stirs your hair? Just your imagination. You didn't hear the voice someone who wasn't there whispering your name.

Just ignore the fact that you heard somebody screaming for help in the night, when you knew you were all alone.

This house isn't haunted. You know that perfectly well. Anyone within their right mind would know that.

But do the ghosts know it?
