"Where's the Doctor," Amy wondered, befuddled, as she gazed around the Halloween-decorated TARDIS. "I thought you two were handing out candy together."
River sighed fondly, thumbing through the bowl, a plastic jack-o'-lantern that was filled with all manner of sweet treats. "That silly boy. He kept getting into the candy, himself, and there was a danger of him eating all of it before the trick-or-treaters could have a decent go. We eventually came to an agreement."
Amy nodded, curious. "So, how did you compromise?"
"Our bargain," River explained, "is that, if there's any candy left at the end of the night, he gets to have it all to himself."
"You and the TARDIS locked him up until Halloween's over, didn't you," her mother knowingly smirked.
For a moment, River gazed at her innocently. Then, she nodded, a mischievous twinkle in her eye.
"Guilty as charged, Mummy, dear," she admitted laughingly.
